There are 17 sports channels including 6 HD channels.
Out of these 17, 8 channels are from Star Sports.
Out of these 8, 4 are SD and the other 4 are simulcast HD of the SD channels.
Out of these 4 SD, 2 are showing matches in English and other 2 are showing in Hindi.
4 HD are replicating the 4 SD and so not mentioning them in detail.
So, only 2 different matches can be shown in all these 8 Star Sports channels.
Now, 1 SD and 1 HD are showing some other event. But they should show the missing Hindi feed match in alternate channel.
Remaining 6 channels are already occupied.
There are 9 other sports channels (7 SD and 2 HD) from other network.
Unfortunately, Star Sports cannot utilize them.
No other option.
Missing show is a Hindi show.
Better to show it in one Hindi channel like how the regional audio feeds are being shown in regional language GEC/Movie channels.
How many GEC/Move are there from Star?
Star Plus, Life Ok, Channel V, Star Utsav, Star Gold.
They should show the missing Hindi feed in one of these Hindi channels and they selected Channel V.

So, that is why we need V to show live matches.

@ our dear sadiq sir
1) there r 18 sports channels :P
i think u forgot ten golf

2) movies ok is also from star india bro. :(:(

3) whatever u explained i already knew it bro.

mine q was - y the wc matches r being shown on channel v.
these r world cup matches.

instead of showing wc matches on channel v, star india should show domestic matches on channel v.

look which option is better:
wc matches on channel v or
domestic matches on channel v

bro, v need wc matches to b shown on ss 2, instead of showing it on channel v.

i know y they r showing it on channel v :tup
but i do not know the logic behind this.

I think priority of Ranji trophy over hindi feed.

Ranji Trophy will be shown in English. WC is been shown in Hindi and English. English version of WC is already in Star Sports. Only Hindi is moved to V channel.

Which one is better.

English version will be watched by PAN India
Hindi version will be watched by the people who knows Hindi and prefer to watch in Hindi.

If they are moving Ranji with English feed to Channel V:
Those who want to watch WC or Ranji in English may not have channel V if it is not there in their DTH's South base packs. But Star Sports may be already there since it is not specific to ROI or South.

If they are moving WC with Hindi feed to Channel V:
Those who want to watch WC in English will continue watch in Star Sports 4 as they used to do till 25-Feb-2015.
Those who want to watch Ranji in English will watch in Star Sports 2 since the sports pack will contain Star Sports 2 to server PAN India.
Those who is missing WC in Hindi feed in Star Sports 2, will continue to enjoy Hindi feed in Channel V since most the ROI base packs of DTH are having Channel V.

A-la-carte is a different case. I am not sure how many customers opted a-la-carte when comparing the customers of all DTH operators PAN India.

..

whatever u say is true bro. channel v is there in every roi packs irrespective of any dth.
i understand ur point of view bro.
but mine q is -
no one is interested in watching ranji matches.
n believe me it is not pan india matches. karnataka vs mumbai - regional match bro.
but wc is wc. now tell me honestly bro- which one wud u watch:
aus vs nz or ranji
i m not against ranji or domestic matches.
but one side they r not showing any other sports matches just bcoz of wc n on the other hand they r playing with wc.
