Pubcaster Prasar Bharati has inked three joint understandings with German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) for broadcasting, co-production and to provide fresh content to Indian audiences on DD network.
The first represents creating new programming, with a co-production of DW’s award-winning show ‘Euromaxx’ in Hindi.
The second extends the rights to dub DW’s Hindi science program ‘Manthan’ into other Indian languages. The third understanding is for telecast of sports programmes from Transtel.
In an event, DW’s director general Peter Limbourg and Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar signed the three joint understandings for future programming under the existing MOU of 2011.
Sircar mentioned, “This opens a new chapter in Indo-German relationship where public broadcasting is concerned and Indians would love to see programmes like soccer, 50 years of Bundesliga, The Olympic Sports, etc as also get to watch quality content on European lifestyle.
We have a special relationship with Deutche Welle and we hope it will lead to more mutually beneficial broadcasting collaborations.”
Limbourg said, “We believe that co-productions offer a fantastic opportunity to not only reach out to larger audiences, but to create a better bond with our premium partners.
Our work with Prasar Bharati and Doordarshan has been successful for both parties and we hope to continue that in the future.”
