Did You Know: When Mani Ratnam rejected Madhavan

After his Sandalwood commercial in 1997, R Madhavan was called for an audition by filmmaker Mani Ratnam. He gave the screen test for a role in the film 'Iruvar', but got rejected as Ratnam thought his eyes looked too young for a senior role.

Later he got his first chance in movies with a Kannada film called Shanti Shanti Shanti, in which he acted as the second lead to Abbas.
