Ekta Kapoor and Mani Ratnam to work together

Ekta Kapoor has established her name in the television entertainment industry. She is the successful creator of numerous hit Indian soap operas. Television serials like ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ and ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, established her production house Balaji Telefilms as the numero uno in the industry.

However not being a person to seat on her laurels, Ekta soon started working to get a foothold in the Bollywood movie industry. She established Balaji Motion Pictures which produced numerous films which had lukewarm responses at the box office. A few days ago the ghost movie ‘Ek tha Daayan’ produced by Ekta Kapoor released in the theatres. It is doing well at the box office. Ekta is now busy promoting her soon to be released film, ‘Shootout at Wadala’.

But her tight schedule hasn’t kept her from planning her new movie. According to the internal sources she is planning to produce Mani Ratnam’s next directional venture. According to the Balaji Motion Pictures’s CEO, Mr. Tanuj Garg, "Right now it is still too early to talk about this. Though talks are on between the two of them, if it does work out, it will be great."

Well! It certainly will be great. It will be the best bet for Ekta to get a super hit at the box office. A director of Mani Ratnam’s stature is sure to create magic on the big screen. This may even lead to the success that Ekta dreamt of on the big screen and that eluded her so far. Earlier hits of the maestro include big hits, such as ‘Roja’, ‘Dil Se’ and ‘Bombay’ etc.

Incidentally Mani Ratnam is known to produce his own movies. However, his recent venture ‘Raavan’ didn’t do too well at the box office and sunk without a trace. It was produced by Mani himself and needless to say that he is also affected by the financial loss. It seems a good proposal if Ekta produces his next movie, as the financial liabilities will be less on him and he can completely concentrate on directing.

The director loves to deal with different sensitive subjects in his films that always create a new trend for Bollywood. ‘Roja’ was on terrorism, ‘Bombay’ was on communal harmony and ‘Yuva’ depicted student politics. We can sure hope that his next movie will also be on an interesting and fresh subject that will make the viewers think.
