EIRP means Effective Isotropic Radiated Power.

In antenna measurements, the measured radiated power in a single direction is known as the EIRP.

Simply says,

The power gained by dish from satellite in the unit of dB.

If the EIPR value is high then you can able to catch the satellite with small size dish.

If the EIPR value is low then you required a big dish to catch the satellites.

For examble,

In my area ( Thiruvarur, Tamilnadu )

Thaicom-5 required 170 Cm dish - EIPR value is 39.

But in Delhi

Thaicom-5 required 230 Cm dish - EIPR value is 36.

Following table contains EIRP values for the C band and required dish size.

UNIT OF EPIR IS CALLED dbw
