Hi All ,

It's a widely accepted fact that HD tranmission is consuming a lot of bandwidth and hence there is a constraint on airing many channels on HD .And we have also seen event based sports telecast in HD. So now my question is why can't entertainment televisions telecast new movies like box office premiere or any other specific shows(eg. Award Functions) alone in HD ?

For a channel broadcaster who is not into HD fully , is it difficult to screen new movies or specific programs alone in HD ?

Please share your views.

Cheers,

Broadcasting just one show (award ceremony) will be a loss for them.
There is not much money involved other than cricket series.
Sponsor will not spend so much money on any such show.

But some DTH had broadcast new movies in HD ppv channel like Tatasky.
But due to poor response they have drop there idea for time being.

In future , they will definitely telecast new movies on HD ppv channel. :)
Future is good for HD. I hope so. :)

Hi Mystic ,

Am not sure how it would be a loss for them . If you see , HD channels these days have seperate advertisements and they have one more avenue to sell the same content i.e. two different advertising streams . Hence it should do good only for them.

Can you please explain PPV channel ? Do you mean Pay Per View ? I do not see any HD movie content in that in the last 30 days or so. Also why would one watch in Pay Per View when most of the movies are broadcast in less than 50 days :)

Moreover , most of the camera being used for alteast award functions are HD capable , hence it would be good for future programming down the lane when their kitty will have more HD content to offer as well which wont cost much IMO .

I think enabling HD for select few shows/movies would give me more variety to viewers and for small time broadcasters too enable HD content for popular shows . But again pricing these shows/channels would be a challenge .[/php]

Do you think any channel will broadcast a one time HD feed for any particular event. I think they won't.

Yes its Pay Per View. Tatasky has started showcase case HD channels few months back.
They shutdown it , due to space problem.
