Hello All,
You all might be aware that I've been trying to swap my existing stb with the new HEVC stb. Finally, after so many attempts it was replaced today. Writing an email to the nodal did the trick. I paid the technician visit charges of 150 and they said the stb swap charges will be directly deducted from my account. I got an SMS that "Service charge of RS.0 has been debited from your digital TV account towards set top box replacement charges". So, looks like I got the box for free! I'll wait a couple of days and confirm if they deduct anything later.

There's definitive improvement in the picture quality of SD channels. Overall, I'm that it's finally done!

your High Definition (HD) TV, you may have
the choice of 1080p mode and 1080i mode.
Both modes offer the same pixel resolution:
1,920 x 1,080. The difference is in the scan
type they use.
The p in 1080p stands for progressive scan ,
and the i in 1080i stands for interlaced.
The key differences are:
1080p (progressive scan) mode may appear
to be sharper, and fast-moving action can
be easier to watch. This mode is used
for Blu-ray discs and some games consoles,
and is known as Full HD .
1080i (interlaced) mode may appear to
flicker or blur more during action scenes or
sports. Some terrestrial TV in the UK and
USA is broadcast in 1080i; the rest is
broadcast in 720p.
In practice, many people do not notice the
difference between 1080p and 1080i. If you
have a large HD TV, you may prefer 1080p, but
the difference is often negligible.

Thank you for the info. Surya Bhandari. I have 49" 4K UHD TV, so I should prefer the STB with 1080p not with 1080i ? Will I be able to catch some difference in PQ ?

this 1080i and 1080p are nothing but marketting gimmick.
If you have TV higher than 43inch, then u can be able to differentiate b/w 1080i & 1080p. otherwise u can't differentiate with your Naked Eye.
