DTH updates Four channels dropped by Tata Play

Bcoz as i have stated Tata Play (Sky) was far too late in adding FTA channels on its platform, only in last few years same gathered momentum while Airtel has been consistent on the same for last 10 or 12 years..... So it is not like Airtel has added less FTA channels , it has large number of such channels but removal is minimal

Firstly, why will people buy Paid DTHs over DDFD if they just want to watch FTA channels? Aparts from few movies, news & religious/spiritual channels, no one watches FTA channels on Paid DTHs

Secondly, Airtel was never as popular as Tata Sky in DTH Segment because personally, when I was using GTPL and used to watch DTH at other people's homes, I never saw anything except Tata Sky, I did not even Airtel is in DTH Segment until my maternal uncle installed it in 2020 or 2021, but never found it UI as smooth as Tata Sky, its is very confusing for new users, PQ & AQ were also not as good as Tata Sky, even today I have mostly seen people using either Tata Play or GTPL atleast in my area (except Jio Fiber Users)

One of my cousins who is using airtel since a year or two also wants to change his pack but its app is extremely confusing, when he asked me for help & I explained him the 30 day lock-in period, he refused to do it which would not have been the case in Tata Play

Also, if Airtel is so consistent in adding all channels & channels removal is minimal then why it never crossed Tata Sky's Channel Count in these many years?

After watching so many threads /posts about Tata Play running scrolls about removal on so many channels and actually removing these channels i just tend to remember many of our memebers who used to poke fun at Airtel Digital Tv when scrolls were seen running on many channels and these members used to say things like "Airtel will slowly drop all channels from the platform " but now they r absolutely silent

Reality is that Airtel Digital TV has always managed to renew maximum carriage fee agreements with various broadcasters so removal rate is minimal and ofcourse when Airtel adds FTA News Channels these very members again poke fun but when Tata Play does so they applaud the step. @Rajkumar

Why are you always dragging ADTV comparison in TP thread.You must accept that your belief are not of everyone or ADTV as a whole. Let TP do what they want. You always Whitewash ADTV whenever you post even in TP thread. Whitewashing is different from Constructive Criticism. If you start comparing then DDF will be war field [seems it is]. If TP users mock ADTV, uno reverse also happens.No one is a Saint.

Again apart from dedicated favorite LCN missing on Airtel i believe User Interface, Remote Control of Airtel Digital TV is also lot better than Tata Play boxes which have come out in last 5 years....LCN Realignment will happen soon and same has been pending bcoz of valid reasons as discussed before too

Cannot understand why Tata Play HD boxes cost more as compared to Airtel Digital TV though quality + feature wise they r in inferior to Airtel

Both in HD as well Smart Android boxes Tata Play lags far behind Airtel Digital TV as far ad features and product quality is concerned.

Above posts are you putting down TP & then you whitewash whenever it's on ADTV. TP users don't atleast whitewash TP for it's problems.

Buddy i just replied to ur point about Tara Play adding more FTA channels hence u said removal us high..... U r diverting it to another topic.... Anyways both FTA and Pay TV Channels r important so its not like DTH or Cable TV customers don't watch FTA, they do and yes Pay channels offer added advantage of watching more variety of content which is not available on FTA channels

I don't know on what basis u r drawing this conclusion as Airtel Digital TV has always been popular among people ... Tata Play gained traction bcoz till 2015 it was by and large defined as a premium brand hence with all the huge marketing and brand identity it built, this helped in garnering more attraction but at that time too Airtel Digital TV was quite popular, later as Tata Play expanded its focus on getting more mass audience onboard by adding more regional + FTA channels , at this very time Airtel Digital TV which maintained a balance between catering to mass and niche audience but was lagging in latter segment so they started to bring about changes to increased its niche customer base which in last 5 or 6 years has grown by leaps and bounds and its mass audience/customer base too has seen great growth.

Every operator has shortcoming but Airtel has consistently improved on the same and be it audio-video , hardware/software , aftersales service, innovation and adopting latest tech upgrade.... Airtel has delivered immensely well on all aspects thus adding to growth + success story

No such confusion there on Airtel App.... Even Tata Play app has small hiccups... Just compare ratings + reviews ofvthe two on Google store

For that a broader time wise analysis is needed as at various points of time Airtel Digital TV did take a lead over Tata Play in SD channels count particularly between 2011 to 2015 when Tata Play faced bandwidth crunch.... Regarding HD Airtel followed a slow approach till 2018 and gathered momentum which continues till now.... Tata Play lagged massively in regional and FTA channels count pre 2015

Bro it's not about scroll scroll makes channels viewing awkward also channels get hanged due to scroll hope adtv do something so that inspite of removal scroll it's not shown on tv like adtv did in r Bangla channel case and channel drop extension is bogus of scroll kept on running like for 9xm of I am not wrong form last almost 1 year removal scroll running on that channel and date keeps on extended

For that i have already shared feedback with their senior team to run scrolls directly on channels using the system tools rather than running a ticker using App feature available in boxes which lead to response time to commands becoming sluggish on channels running such scrolls... Soon Airtel might also start to run scrolls directly on channels like other operators do
