Picture quality is same as SD and no compatibility issues.
Yes, you can have HD STB without subscribing HD channels.
It's a good idea to go for HD STB if you've plan to upgrade CRT>HDTV soon.

Harvest Tv not adding as MIB said not to add this channel till get clearance ..

there will be no difference in clarity of SD channels in CRT TV for HD box & SD box,Both looks good.

Guys, I have a question regarding TataSky app. How much is the data consumption if I watch 30mins of live TV in the app ?

I'm using the app for first time to live stream channels - Noticed that there is no audio in MTV Beats HD Channel of the app and Colors Tamil HD channel is not available in the app.

Tata Sky users - Please help bros @Anish Pai @Bapun Raz @Rushil @Sagar

1080p of TS App for HD channels. Take around 4 mbps means 500 kbit/s. So, Around 900 MB to 1 GB for 30 minutes if you are watching in TS Live web or Mobile device which has widvine L1.
