If it requires internet connection (like TATASKY VOD) then it will not be successful because watching HD videos on TV requires high speed broadband (I think at least 10 mbps speed) which is not possible in India until 2025-2030. :wall

Google is also aware(according to Eric Emerson Schmidt, executive chairman of Google) of bandwidth problem in India. So I think it will not require Internet connection. It will work like any TV channel otherwise Google would choose south Korea or Japan or some other developed countries which have 50 mbps broadband speed.

My internet speed is 15mbps. Please aware that in India HD movies are being watched on TV through Google TV, Apple TV, Chrome cast, Roku etc. devices even with 2mbps speed by sharing Netflix, HBO Go etc.

So at least 2 Mb/s is required for IPTV. But still 2 Mb/s is a dream for vast majority of Indian internet subscribers as 3G is not well developed and wired connection has not reached countryside. :'(

It will be interesting to see how offline youtube will be made available if it is...
If it is going to be like a TV channel then subscriber will have to watch what DTH co is showing, it will be not like actual online youtube where one can view online videos or may be like subscriber will order a video & it will be shown after some time.
