MUMBAI: English news channel India Today TV is all set to launch a 13-episode news quiz show on 24 July. Titled ‘News Wiz’, it will be hosted by noted journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai.
The show will be a one-hour format with nine prelims,three semi-finals and a grand finale. Each episode will feature three teams consisting of two participants each. The questions in the show will be based on important developments in the last few weeks.
The new show, which will air on Sundays at 11 am, is being launched to break through the clutter by trying an innovative format and expand the audience base by getting more youngsters to the news channel. It will also have a repeat airing during the primetime to ensure that it gets maximum eyeballs.
‘News Wiz’ has been conceptualised by Big Synergy’s Anita and Siddharth Basu, who have helmed many knowledge-based shows like ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, ‘Mastermind India’, ‘University Challenge’ and ‘India’s Child Genius’.
