Japanese broadcaster NHK today started broadcasting 8K on a permanent basis. NHK collectively refers to 4K / 8K as “Super Hi-Vision“, and with the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games not too far away, this is a major step in transitioning viewers to what the broadcaster is calling a “New era of full-scale super high vision”.
NHK’s 8K (well it’s actually 7680 x 4320) broadcasts are now available on a daily basis on a special channel between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm. The picture quality of the broadcasts will be 16 x greater than that of HD, and audio will be delivered in 22.2 multi-channel. NHK will be broadcasting in frame rates of 59.94, 60 and 120P.

Meanwhile our country's broadcaster's main priority is launching more SD channels every year.:clap::clap:
If you are talking about the national broadcaster then yes. Only 2 HD channels (that too with terrible distribution) but too many SD channels, especially Northeast ones. DD Aizawl, Guwahati, Northeast, Itanagar, Sikkim, Imphal AND Manipur, Shillong, Agartala and Nagaland. Other national networks don't have any NE channels but DD has too many NE channels.

As for other broadcasters, they are definitely launching HD channels. Your punctuation is ambiguous. Broadcaster's refers to a single broadcaster, but broadcasters' refers to multiple broadcasters. If you mean the latter, you are wrong. Plenty of HD channels are launched annually.

I don't see many upcoming HD news and regional sports channels. Most of the cartoon channels are still in SD. Even Epic HD shut down.
