With an eye on the upcoming assembly elections, the Tamil Nadu government has launched broadband services for every household through the state-owned multi-system operator (MSO) Arasu Cable TV Corporation, which had recently received the internet service provider (ISP) licence.
The service, which was launched by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa through a video conference, aims to provide broadband service to every household across the state.
The broadband service is available in various packages between Rs 299 and Rs 899 per month inclusive of service tax. Other broadband players in the state include government-run BSNL, Bharti Airtel and Bengaluru-based ACT Net.
The CM also declared opening the start-up warehouse of Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation.
The warehouse has been set up at a cost of Rs 3.53 crore (Rs 35.3 million).
