I started off the quick review by saying that Ranveer as Ricky Bahl would want to do a "Kola-VerU" - smash a few boundaries and bowl the maidens over.

Exactly an hour into the movie, it looked like he was nearly there. As abs-flashing, smooth-talking con-man Ricky Bahl, the ladies can’t resist him. As Parineeti Chopra’s Dimple Chaddha, says, 'Yeh handsome lagna kab band karega?'

Never really, because the Band Baaja Baaraat team and director Maneesh Sharma wants to revive Ranveer's crazy energy. So they give him plenty of moments to show off his perfectly-toned abs (well-oiled and in Goa for good measure) as the ladies he has recently conned – Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma – stake him out for revenge.

Then the predictable story line hits, with Anushka Sharma thrown in woman who can counter Ricky with a con of her own.

By now you may have guessed, how the film is likely to end, but I’ll tell you why you should still watch it.

Parineeti Chopra scores as brash nouveau riche Delhi girl Dimple Chaddha. The endearing dialogues are all here (like the film begins with her trying to adjust a choli to show cleavage-shevage).

Dipannita Sharma as Raina Parulekar and Aditi Sharma as Saira Rashid are believable.

Anushka Sharma as the ambitious salesgirl Ishika Desai is believable but not endearing – you would like her black bikini scene.

Ranveer Singh walks away the hero from the film. Super energy and after Parineeti, good dialogues which make him not a seminal con-man by any standards, but an enjoyable one.

The whistles were all for him and Parineeti.

The film loses out on the great chemistry we saw between him and Anushka in Band Baaja Baaraat, especially towards the end.

I’ll go with 2.5 stars for Ladies vs Ricky Bahl - 1 Ranveer, 1 for Parineeti for her debut film and .5 for the entertainment, especially in the first half.
