MUMBAI: Star India’s second Hindi GEC Life OK is all set to launch a new show called ‘Dream Girl’ in its evening primetime slot.
As the name suggests, the show will focus on the dreams of a small-town girl to make it big in the tinsel town. Launching on 9 March, ‘Dream Girl: Ek Ladki Deewani Si’ will air at 9:30 pm from Monday to Friday.
The Shashi-Sumeet Productions show will replace Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Yeh’.
A source says that there will be some more changes in the programming line-up going ahead.
The channel has lined up another Ekta Kapoor show called ‘Kalash’, which may replace ‘Laut Aao Trisha’ in the primetime 9 pm slot.
Life OK is also presently working on a show based on medical life.
A Life OK spokesperson said, “Today’s generation does not mind taking shortcuts to achieve their dreams and equates happiness to fame.
The story portrays Lakshmi’s chase for her dreams that come at a cost and teach her the biggest life lessons.” Shot and set in Jodhpur, ‘Dream Girl’ will present the story of Lakshmi, who is trying her best to get to Mumbai to become an actor.
The story is about Lakshmi’s dreams and the extent to which she goes in their pursuit.
Producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal said, “This is our third endeavour with Life OK and we are extremely delighted with the association.
‘Dream Girl’ is a story about dreams and aspirations that every girl like Lakshmi harbours.
Lakshmi’s unflagging optimism brings the feel-good factor to the show and we are hopeful that young girls across the country will be able to relate to her character.”
Nikita Dutta will make her debut on TV as Lakshmi. Shraddha Arya will essay the role of yesteryear superstar-turned-successful entrepreneur Ayesha Sareen.
Lakshmi’s love interest will be played by Samar Sareen, aka Mohsin Khan, who is shown to be Bollywood’s most promising new face. It is Lakshmi’s desire to get her big break opposite Samar Sareen
