There are officially declared standard installation cost informations available for all DTH operators. They can't claim extra on top of that. Unless you need extra hardware from them, which is not part of the standard installation process.

I think if we pay something as a token of appreciation when a new product is purchased to the delivery/installation person - that is at consumer's discretion. They should not ask for it.
You can negotiate with them on this I guess.
If you will order through Airtel Website/ Online E-commerce, making full payment at checkout then you shouldn't have to pay to any amount to technician.
