Hi friends,
As you must have seen already i was hard at work today and announced two big features additions earlier today (started typing this thread at 11.55PM, 13 May, mentioning it incase its 14th by when i post it).
If you didn't saw existing announcements, go through them please:
New Trophy points system implemented
Similar threads for better content discovery
Now coming to what this announcement is about.
Many times we have received requests from various members (mainly from newbies) who wanted easy image uploading process to attach images on posts. However due to size of our forum and amount of image gets posted daily we didn't taken the risk of allowing uploading images to our servers. But we always wanted to ease the process out, Imgur has been long time serving our member posted image uploads and it doesn't adds any kind of promotional links or compresses the image quality. So we decided to integrate their service with our site. This feature didn't existed with the software we use so we had to get it custom developed for our forum and now happy to introduce you the same.
This is how you can upload images selecting your files from local folders:
Click on Select Files button. Multiple files can be selected.
After selecting all required images, you can click on Upload All
While upload is in process, you can see Processing... written along with completed process with percentage, usually it will be instant. On successful upload the bar will turn Green, you will get image links along with Insert button which you can click to upload each images, if there are many images you can insert them all by pressing Insert All button.
If for some reason upload is failed, the bar will turn Red and you will have option to cancel or retry uploading.
Image uploading feature is supported on multiple areas on the forum (almost everywhere). Here's a list of it:
We have also plans to add URL based uploading in the future, so you can paste URLs directly and image will be uploaded.
Must say, we have worked really hard to get this one done and glad to see we did it!
Hope it will help everyone and you liked our work. Let us know your thoughts on it.
Thanks,
Team DDF
