What is the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup about?
The Satyamev Jayate Water Cup is essentially a competition between different villages to see who can do the maximum work for watershed management and water conservation in the period of the competition.
The competition period for the second edition of the Water Cup is 8th April to 22nd May 2017.
The top three villages will get cash prizes of Rs. 50 lakhs, Rs. 30 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs respectively. In addition, the top village from each taluka will get a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs. If a village has secured one of the top three prizes at the state level, then it will not be eligible for the Rs. 10 lakh prize that will be given to the top village in the taluka. In such a case, the top prize of the taluka will go to the next village.

Is Participation by a Village or By a Gram Panchayat?
The unit for participation and for measurement of performance in the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup is the revenue village. In most cases there is no difference between a revenue village and a Gram Panchayat. Both are the same. However, there is more than one revenue village in a Gat (Group) Gram Panchayat.
If yours is a Gat Gram Panchayat:
Each of its member revenue village can participate separately in the competition; or
All the revenue villages of a Gat Gram Panchayat can come together as a single Gram Panchayat to participate in the competition; or
Some revenue villages of a Gat Gram Panchayat can come together and participate in the competition.
In any/all of these options, the competition entry form is to be filled only by the Gram Panchayat.

Terms of Participating in the Competition
In order to participate, every village must comply with two conditions:
1. The participating Gram Panchayat must hold a Gram Sabha and pass a resolution authorising participation in the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2017.
2. A four-day Training Camp will be organised by Paani Foundation to train villagers in the science of watershed management. The participating village must select five responsible villagers to be sent for this Training Camp. It is mandatory for these five villagers to complete all four days of the Training Camp. We urge that this group of five must consist of two women and two young participants. This year, we shall be using a mobile app for the training. This app will make many things easier. Hence, we request that at least one of these five participants should be familiar with the use of a smartphone.
If the participating village belongs to a Gat Gram Panchayat, it has to send a minimum of two and a maximum of three persons for the training. However, the entry form should be submitted through the Gram Panchayat.
