Banking on the credibility and brand identity created by Malayalam daily Madhyamam, with its 25-year presence in the Kerala market, Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd is gearing up to launch a Malayalam television channel, Mediaone TV. The channel is slated to go on air in August 2012.
Besides its launch in Kerala, the channel will also be available in the Middle East from the very beginning of its telecast, backed by the Gulf Madhyamam, the group’s Malayalam daily for the Middle East.
Targetted at the entire family, Mediaone TV will air news and news-based programmes as well as entertainment programmes.
Speaking to exchange4media, Shakkir Jameel, Manager - PR & Legal, Mediaone TV, shared, “The channel will target all segments of people – from adults to children. Extreme care will be taken to ensure that nothing related to vulgarity and n*d*ty is aired on the channel. The same goes for advertisements.”
Jameel shared that the channel was being promoted through all social networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube as well as the Madhyamam newspaper and a website.
On future plans, he added, “The channel will be telecast in Kerala in Malayalam language to start with. In future, we plan to expand the channel’s presence in other states and will also air in English and Urdu languages.”
Mediaone TV is headquartered at Calicut with news bureaus in New Delhi, Dubai, Riyadh, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Malappuram. Dr Abdussalam Ahmad is the CEO of the new channel, while M Sajid is the Deputy CEO. The senior editorial team comprises Managing Editor Sunil Hasan and Editor of Programmes, Babu Bharadwaj.
