He has conquered the unconquerable and scaled the highest peak in his career; he attributes all praise that comes his way to "inshah allah" - and that's the simplicity of the man we're discussing, A.R. Rahman, who has tuned the world to his music. The 'Mozart of Madras,' as he is called lovingly by his local clan is all set to conquer more accolades.

Rahman's music was nominated for an Oscar for the second successive year for Danny Boyle's biopic '127 Hours.' One of his compositions 'If I rise' from this Danny Boyle film has been nominated for the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards, in the category - 'Best Original Song Written Directly For A Film'.

The awards ceremony is held every year in Ghent, Belgium. This year the awards will be handed over on October 22.

And for those of you who are not sure about what WSA (World Soundtrack Awards) is all about: This awards function was introduced in 2001 and is aimed at organizing and overseeing the educational, cultural and professional aspects of the art of film music, including the preservation of the history of the soundtrack and its worldwide promotion.

There are three main categories for this award ceremony and they are: Soundtrack Composer of the Year, Best Original Score of the Year and the Best Original Song written directly for a film. Rahman bagging a nomination in one of these categories has added more pride to his millions of fans.

Will Rahman win this coveted award thereby becoming the first Indian to bag this award, time will tell. We wish him all the luck for it; post your wishes for this ace music composer in here....
