MUMBAI: Rajan Raheja-promoted Asianet Satellite Communications, which started in 1993, is expanding outside the state of Kerala.
The multi-system operator (MSO) has entered the Karnataka market with the launch of its digital cable TV service in Mangalore.
Hathway Cable & Datacom, also promoted by Raheja, already runs cable TV service in parts of
Karnataka, including Bangalore and Mysore.
“Mangalore is the first city where we will have presence outside Kerala. We have set up a headend in Mangalore. The city has a market
size of 450,000 set-top boxes (STBs) and we feel there is an opportunity for us here,”
Asianet Satellite Communications president and COO G Sankarnarayana said.
Asianet will also look to expand in other parts of Karnataka if there is the right business
