Friends good news for us, Eutelsat 3C which is in the process of redeployment to 13 degree east will be renamed as Hotbird 13D. The best part about this satellite is that it has 2 beams. One beam covers upto North India and other upto central India. For those who were trying to get Hotbird from a long time will become a reality.:lol

Plz read this article:

Eutelsat 3D goes into full service at 3 degrees east
Thursday 20 June 2013 | 12:23 CET | News

Eutelsat Communications’s Eutelsat 3D satellite has gone into full commercial service at 3 degrees east with all traffic transferred overnight from Eutelsat 3C onto the new satellite. With 33 operational transponders, additional capacity is now available from 3 degrees east to address video, data, telecommunication and broadband markets in Europe and also in Africa through a new service area. Eutelsat 3D will operate at 3 degrees east until the deployment of the Eutelsat 3B satellite to this position in second quarter 2014. Eutelsat 3C will be deployed in early July from 3 degrees east to the HOT Bird position at 13 degrees east.

Renamed HOT Bird 13D, it will be co-located with the identical HOT Bird 13B and C satellites. With each bird equipped with 64 Ku-band transponders, they together span the entire range of 102 Ku-band frequencies at 13 degrees east and will deliver broadcast customers with enhanced security levels. The reconfiguration of the HOT Bird constellation will release the HOT Bird 13A satellite which will be deployed to 7/8 degrees west. Renamed Eutelsat 8 West C, it will enable Eutelsat to switch on additional transponders at the neighbourhood for satellite television in North Africa and the Middle East. :)

Chances are less though. Beams can be changed.
Satbeams says, all 3 beams of 3C are retired now : http://www.satbeams.com/satellites?norad=33750

Also, while checking eutelsat's official website, it is listing 3C under hotbird 3D, where there is a beam pattern in the background, ( though it is little diminished/faded), which is the same as other HOtbird sats.

Ya Shawl, I was waiting for your valuable comment, yes may be but the current 2 beams have good coverage in India, in satbeam site it is showing 'retiered' since it is in moving status and when the satellite will move to east side than there will be more chance of strong footprints than as in current status..
To change the beam is not so easy. You will see the examples of other eutelsat satellites which were redeployed, their beams were never changed.:k
Plz check the previsous status of eutelsat 3c
SatStar.net - Eutelsat 3C at 3.1°E

Yes, we can only hope, that we get some hotbird channels on our tv sets. :sp

That would be difficult bro. :sp

Though, I m not sure... but I think satellites are barred from transmitting adult channels on KU-band frequencies in India.
If satellites were allowed, there wud have been a lot of ppl. who wud spend money on these channels, considering India to be market leader in TV/DTH industry.
