There is good chance that an Indian song might win the Oscar this year, under the best original score category. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the list of 70 songs that are eligible to win the Oscar this year, and there was a pleasant surprise for Indians in it.
Among songs from world-famous musicians like Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey and Nick Jonas, two tracks by Gopi Sundar, the musician of Pulimurugan, have also been shortlisted. The songs are Kaadanayum Kaalchilambe and Maanathe Maarikurumbe.
Pulimurugan, directed by Vysakh, starring Mohanlal and Kamalini Mukherjee, is the first film to enter the 100-crore club in Malayalam. The film received an overwhelming response from the audience.
