Yes, and many old episodes were shot in very low budget sets, even pq was very bad. Only those were funnier than new episodes...

our Bengali movie channel, jalsha Movies HD showing 90's movie in HD here. Zee Planning to launch Zee classic in HD! then how will they show Old clasic movies in HD? Max showing some classic movies in HD , Like Anand (Rajesh Khanna, Bacchan ji)

Because movies are shot in film, and kept widescreen. Film is equivalent to 1440p resolution but older cameras had noise or artifacts. These are later cleaned up to m ake hd, for dvd and blu ray releases(eg: watch old star wars movies differences). On the other hand, for tv, everything in old times was 4:3, so sides are cut from videoin post production to make it 4:3. So it is very difficult to make it hd, and you can't get full result(eg: watch very old Dr. Who episodes, and Sherlock Jeremy Brett episodes)...
