Raj TV (Raj Television Network) 2012-13 March audited balance sheet shows that it has a net profit of Rs 9 .21 crore, a 0.87% growth. The audited results for ending March 2012 was Rs 9.21 crore.

In March 2012, the sales revenue was Rs 54.06 crore while for fiscal year it was Rs 67.53 crore showing a rise of 24.92%. The sales revenue includes increases of advertisement tariff and subscription.

The fourth quarter ending March 2013 revenue was only Rs 0.53 crore whereas last year it was Rs 4.65 crore showing a fall of 88.60 % in this ending fiscal. In the same period, the revenue from sales was Rs 17.47 crore showing a rise of 9.47%. This is more than last year corresponding period which showed Rs 15.92.

Annual revenues at Rs 67.53 crore for Financial Year-2013 rose by over 24 per cent as against fiscal year 2012 was Rs 54.06 crore. Advertisement, DTH and cable subscription revenues for March 2012 fiscal went up by 13 per cent and 32.5 per cent from March 2012 fiscal respectively.

The decline in profit for Q4 was due to several reasons. The rental for Asiasat 5 satellite the new platform cost Rs 4.3 crore which is higher than the earlier satellite Insat. It entered new regional areas and this increased spending to Rs 15.22 crore in fourth quarter of 2013 while previous year it was only Rs 10.73 crore.

In fiscal ending March 2012, the spending was Rs 66.66 lakh but the 2013 March fiscal shows it at Rs 1.51 crore. Total expense for April 2012 to March 2013 was Rs 54.74 crore, a rise of 26% which they say will start showing returns this year.

The board has announced on the face value of Rs 10 per share a final dividend of Rs 1 per share . Raj TV is facing protests from producers over dubbing of Telegu serials into Tamil. Telegu producers and actors are already on a war path in Hyderabad over the spate of Tamil serials being dubbed and shown in their region.

Now, the Tamil TV producers have asked Raj TV to stop airing dubbed serials. The channel says that producers cut costs to increase profit margins which affects quality. By spending more on a serial and having it dubbed into other languages gives the channel more profits.
