Ranveer Singh is following in the footsteps of
the famous Hollywood actor, Heath Ledger,
and some of his own fraternity. For Bajirao
Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum
opus, Singh is reportedly walking many extra
miles - the current one being the decision to
move out of his Bandra home.
Speaking to a daily, the actor said, "The film
requires me to cut off from television, (have)
no phone, no Internet and I honestly need to
get into a certain zone. At home, there's my
mother, sister and father. I need to just cut off
and get into this (completely). I can't even tell
you the demands of this character. It's scary."
In 2007-08, During the filming of the film The
Dark Knight, the second in Christopher Nolan's
Batman trilogy, the late Heath Ledger had done
something similar to what Ranveer is doing
now. Ledger had locked himself up in a hotel
room to prepare for the iconic role of The
Joker.
Time and again, Bollywood actors, too, have
walked the complete-isolation way to prepare
for their characters. While Aamir Khan lived in
a chawl in Mumbai for Dhobi Ghat (2011),
Vivek Oberoi had spent some time living in the
slums of Mumbai for his role in Company
(2002).
While Ledger's Joker was a career-defining
character, and Aamir and Vivek both lived up
to their roles in their respective films, we're
yet to see if Ranveer is able to do the same
with Bajirao Mastani.
