The veteran director of over three decades experience SD Ankalgi has called for the respect to producers from all sectors. He was speaking at the 'Belli Hejje' of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy as chief guest in a face to face conversation.

The respect and safeguarding the producer was so good in the 50, 60 and 70's. It is missing nowadays. The person who invests and takes it at the last is treated badly. This should stop. This is the major reason for me to stop producing films in the last few years.

Mentioning the importance of story for the film, melodious music and apt action scenes only should be fed. Nowadays everything is happening in excess he felt.

Born in 1933 in Bijapur district Ankalki came to cinema because of a Hindi film 'Rathan'. He began his career as representative and area manager for films distribution. He produced his first film 'Badhuku Bangaravaithu' way back in 1975 and he was the first to produce a cinemascope Kannada film 'Sosethanda Sowbhagya'. He has produced eight films and introduced many young talents.
