Official role of Democratic Marathi

Today On January 9, 2024 evening, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the decision to suspend the license of the Democratic Marathi news channel for 30 days. The Ministry has said in its decision that this action was taken on the grounds of completion of some documents. Also, a deadline has been given to complete the said documents in the next 30 days. Demokratiya Marathi News Channel has followed the terms and conditions of the Mantralayas in the past and it will be followed this time as well.

Demokratiya Marathi news channel is operational from 26 January 2020. And only after completion of all documents and necessary permissions, the channel starts broadcasting. But this time 30 days license suspension has been taken by pointing fingers at some document errors. In the last 4 months suddenly there was a demand for documents related to the organization from the Ministry, which we have fulfilled from time to time. We had replied to the show cause notice issued on November 17, 2023. Also appear before the Ministry on 14th December 2023

While presenting its case, the ministry had also sought time to complete the said documents. But we are also surprised by this ban order that came suddenly on January 9 evening.

We had approached the Delhi High Court against the order of 72 hours ban in the Kirit Somaiya case in September. And within 24 hours Hon. It is important to mention that the High Court had ruled in our favour.

Although the reason for the broadcast ban is different this time, we will once again fight our fight through legal channels. We are going to appeal to the court against this hasty action. Hon. We are sure that we will get justice from the court even this time.

Not because of TRP issue but political issue. This time channel is suspended/banned by I&B ministry. The channel is still very popular since the broadcasting news of kirit sommayya. The owner of this channel now going in Supreme Court for justice.
