RF MEANS Radio Frequency Remote and IR means Infrared Remote. IR will work only when u point towards STB exactly but RF will work from any direction, even from outside of the room within 25 meters range.

So u want to say that Infrared is not a radio wave. Are u crazy ? First make your facts correct. Every communicational signal is a radio wave. How much distance signal will travel depends on power of antenna. If u increase the power signal will travel more distance.

Ya both are radio wave type But ir remote only work within room and have to direclty point the remote towatds stb but rf will work from anywhere within 25 meters radius.

What do u mean by IR remote works only within room ? Who told u that it will not work outside?

Normally remotes are designed in such a way that the output signal travel like a waveguide so that minimum power is required to send signal which help to increase battery life. Looks like d2h remote generate signal which travels in a spherical wave like wifi or Bluetooth signal. Is that so ? Doesn't it consume more battery ?

And by the way for your information IR(infra Red) is not a radio wave. IR spectrum and frequency are different than Radio wave (RF).
