SES has announced that over 1,300 HD channels are now transmitted on its satellite fleet worldwide.

This, according to the company, is more than its two main competitors combined.

Of the 1,300+ channels, more than 920 are in North America, 297 in Europe and 105 in fast growing emerging markets including Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa.

The recent channel count, based on numbers supplied by Lyngsat, also shows that SES carries 17% of the nearly 31,000 TV channels broadcast via satellite worldwide and 28% of the more than 4,700 HDTV channels on all satellites.
