Why sports channels price is too high compared with other channels?

As broadcasters like Star and Sony pay high prices for broadcasting rights of sporting events they charge huge prices from cable operators and Dth operators to recover them and also earn profit.Sony earned 200 mn from advertising from recently concluded FIFA world cup.

Star Sports Channels ala-carte price has been increased & Sony Ten channels price decreased from RS.47 to Rs.40 per month on Videocond2h website

They have got cricket rights and they will renew major of Football rights also.

Its all in terms of strategy and business sense.All of them are operating be it broadcaster or DTH,cable operator for making profit.When TRAI order comes there will be some relief for customer.
