I don't know which company RIL, Jio or Viacom took part in last auction. They didn't outbid Star. I think Star will be the one retaining at any cost. Star Sports' entire network relies on IPL. No way a new entrant in sports market will go for it with such high investment. Closest thing I can see Reliance do is to go for digital streaming rights which could be helpful to acquire users for JioFiber.

Are audience even interested in these one-sided matches? I have literally never seen or heard anyone apart from my father who follows football religiously be interested in matches like England vs Bulgaria.

It was jio who bidded for digital rights. And yes I think it was very less even less than Facebook's 600milion bid.

hardcore fans can watch
no matter about oponent.
if brazil play brazil supporter can watch and vice versa for Argentina match plus in Argentina match messi live on tv bonus for fans.

plus latin America group match time mostly early morning so mtv or vh1 can show these matches without too much tweek their programme and bonus they get early morning viewers which helps them for trp

It's not about are we , it's about we are . RIL is confident for bidding IPL. Will take it to another level.
When I enquired about sports channel. He laughed and said what you think we will put ipl in colors TV ?.
2 parallel sports channel will be launched one dedicated to cricket and other dedicated to football , esport , golf , TT and more.
I enquired about will their be dedicated Hindi channel. He said it will be given to regional movie channels also audio selection would be provided for DTH users.
What languages will we witness - English , Hindi , Bengali , Tamil , Telugu and Kannada
When can we witness launch of channel. ?
He said we are waiting for FIFA and some cricket rights.

He at last said. Experience the magic of sports. I think it might be tagline. I'm not sure

Waiting for westindies, newzealand,Banglades, Zimbabwe and other remain cricket rights very soon.

Newzealand west Indies ireland and ICC sign deal with Fancode and currently FANCODE focus on cricket bcz almost all football rights acquired by tv broadcasters
In coming years atleast these three boards cricket plus icc qualifiers available on fancode

I would like to watch Sports in Marathi then watching on Star Sports 1, I watched IPL in Marathi this year on Hotstar hope they launch a separate channel aka Star Sports Marathi in future.

Bhai, the thing is, Star Sports 1 Marathi already exists. But it is not distributed on any platforms. Similarly there were dedicated Nat Geo Tamil and Telugu channels but those were never added by any platforms and hence they were shut down.
