Star -The God in telecasting live cricket since ages

Bcoz whether one likes it or not India Cricket brings maximum ratings , broadcasters just have to cater to what the larger population is interested in watching while at the same time air other sports which r viewed by significantly less number of people (few exceptions like some big matches or events might be there which match up to cricket ratings).

Star Sports is doing a good job in balancing out the popular as well as niche sports events which get featured on their channels. Remember it is afterall a business and they have to adopt a content or pricing strategy which not only caters to demand of all viewers but even is financially viable

Bro But isn't handle name star sports if handle name was star cricket then it's prefferable

Look at sony sports they never divided Sports content promo as a broadcaster
Those are timepass. Cricket is real sport. Believe it or not. Cricket is the only premium sports with maximum ratings that can attract expensive Pan Parag and Vimal ads. You can't even show Zuban Kesari ad after a goal. What's the point of existence of such sports?

Don't know all matches live or not

Star Sports Network has multiple channels and airs variety of sports content. Their social media handles do promote all such sporting properties.

Even Sony Sports or Sports18 post promos about a particular sport and there is nothing wrong with it. Sports which have mass audience base & which fetch high ratings will obviously get promoted more.

Sony Sports or even Sports 18 still does not have the extremely costly or popular cricket rights hence u will see their channels featuring more variety of sports but Star Sports has thousands of crores invested in India Cricket, IPL, etc. thus these form predominant part of its promotional and scheduling strategy.

It is all about how best these sporting rights/events can be monetized so as to recover investment and earn profit. Star Sports team itself won't be liking airing cricket thru most part of the day on many of its channels but to run a economically viable sports business this is necessary for them. Still they r doing a good job in airing other sports across their channels, Star Sports Select channels need special mention as barring 1 or 2 hours of cricket (except if there is some live cricket action to broadcast and others star sports channels r busy airing some other live events) they air non cricket sports all thru the day...even other star sports channels do accommodate lot more different non cricket sports on regular basis.

Sony Sports despite not having invested big on cricket (compared to star sports) still air lot of cricket highlights on Sony Sports Ten 3 / Ten 5. Also it airs cricket on almost channels when Indian Cricket Team Tours a country for a series and they have the rights, so essentially they too focus more on India Cricket as and when opportunities come. They can afford to skip Australia Home Cricket Matches for Live Australian Open Matches on its TV Channels as there is not much to loose interms of viewership or ad revenue but Star Sports cannot skip India Cricket matches and air English Premier League instead of it, even highlights of India Cricket fetch ratings hence brings much required revenue to recover heavy investments made. Buying rights is just one part of the investment incurred, making pre/post match shows, bringing onboard presenters/team, uplinking to satellite, promoting and various other things add up immensely to overall cost of airing a live cricket match

Yes i knew but
I just want why not then they add / make / introduce star sports cricket handle to post this type of cricket stuffs only then it makes sense profit is a matter i get from your earlier post but do this cunningly use popular handle star sports for promote cricket only i am against for that

When asked if TV and digital were being sold together, Jayaraj disclosed, "We are seeing a lot of demand on digital but not as much on TV, owing to the shift in the increased consumption and engagement on digital. In line with that, we are prioritizing digital over TV."

“Our intent is to build a consumer base, which is diverse, where we can get people to come in and view the products that they would like. That's the reason we have gone for a variety of sports. We have been quite deliberate in choosing to buy rights that we believe we can monetize. But the idea is very much about building a large portfolio of sports on the back of which we can build a large consumer base.”
