Pro Kabaddi already going down in popularity, last season saw major dip in ratings which prompted Star to air it on hindi movie channel too.
This year too most sponsors have not joined with them and Star India has not promoted it in a widespread manner. Don't think it will be back next season.
Team Owners also want proper open bidding of broadcast rights, currently Star India is owner as well as themselves purchase rights.
Lastly , until Star India reduces focus on cricket ... Other sports will not find much growth. Most Ad Spendings go into cricket and little left for others, this year world cup consumed the marketing budget of brands. Currently allocation of funds r too much tilted towards cricket thus creating problems.
Sony is having much more legroom bcoz adequate money is available to buy different rights unlike Star where IPL/BCCI rights have been huge investments
