Mumbai:Upping its game in the Kannada market, Star India is rechristening its Kannada GEC Suvarna and movie channel Suvarna Plus as Star Suvarna and Star Suvarna Plus respectively on 25 July.
The re-branded channels will reflect the distinctive culture and traditions of Karnataka through its differentiated content.
The broadcaster said that its shows would reflect its new brand philosophy ‘Sambandagal Hosa Spandana’ (The new rhythm of relationships).
The broadcaster will ramp up its content with bigger investments across genres—fiction, non-fiction and events as it takes on Viacom18’s Colors Kannada, the leading GEC in the market.
The rebranding will coincide with the launch of ‘Hara Hara Mahadeva’. The channel plans to launch an array of new shows including two weekend non-fiction shows and a new fiction show in the next few weeks.
Star Suvarana business head Ashok Namboodiri said, “Suvarna has always offered differentiated and innovative content to Kannada viewers. With the new brand name and proposition, we plan to significantly scale up our offerings, which will be on a par with international standards. As we enter this new phase, we will continue to delight our consumers with new stories and new programmes that will redefine general entertainment.”
Star Suvarna Plus will retain its content combination of films and sports. The channel will continue showcasing national-level sporting events like the Pro Kabbadi League in Kannada.
A 360-degree marketing plan has been rolled out to establish the new brand logo and identity along with the launch of ‘Hara Hara Mahadeva’.
