Switching off Set top box

I normally do not switch set top box off but directly turn the plug. It automatically starts up when power is switched ON. Is this a good practice ? Will it harm my set top box ?

not only stb,every electronics devices should be showdown proper way.it will affect the product life.

Don't Worry.....No need To UPS With Normal Stb , In case of PVR/DVR or Hard disk Stb Need To Shutdown Proper Way And Need UPS!

As people told every electronics devices need to shutdown in proper way, if you maintain it correctly it will last longer. :tup
