So basically they r giving hd stb but promoting it as a SD box. Another way employed to make subscribers ditch sd boxes after previous not so successful attempt of making sd boxes costlier than hd ones. But isn't it wrong to promote hd box as sd version?

So, HD upgrade will be free? Customer is already having HD STB so for what they'll charge?

Can't the STB will not list HD channels means ? Only SD channels will be available ? How can we view HD is it HD compatible or not

Guess so bhai... But u never know if they charge some activation fee for the same. Also i hope operators or broadcasters do not come with some plan of making HD subscribers opt for some min. hd chs through some incentives or policies. I am happy if more subscribers opt for HD but then it should b done in fair manner and to gradually phase out SD feed where possible but just getting some to upgrade so that ad / subscription revenues can b increased and both feeds r carried along is not quite appreciable

In normal HD upgrades price of HDMI cable is not charged. One can buy HDMI cable himself also.
