India's Tata Sky on Thursday (Nov 19) announced it will be launching Channel NewsAsia International on its platform, and subscribers would be able to access the channel from today.
In a joint press release with MediaCorp, the satellite TV service provider said with the new offering it has expanded its range of news channels to 96, including 14 English news channels, 22 Hindi news channels and 57 regional news channels.
The launch also means Channel NewsAsia International will be able to reach more than 14 million households in India, it added.
"We have always believed in offering a wide range of global news content and are delighted to offer our subscribers the award-winning Channel NewsAsia International," said Mr Paolo Agostinelli, Chief Content and Business Development Officer at Tata Sky.
Mr Woon Chuk Chan, Vice President of Channel NewsAsia's Distribution and Content Sales, added that India is "key to the present and future of Asia".
"We believe we are well placed to understand, present and interpret how India's role in the global economy will depend on changes in its political and economic climate," he said. "We look forward to offer our unique, content to all viewers across the country through our partnership with Tata Sky."
