TDSAT adjourns DTH CPE matter to 29 July
The Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has adjourned the direct-to-home (DTH) customer premises equipment (CPE) case to 29 July.
The matter was adjourned as the petitioners, namely DTH Association, Videocon d2h and Sun Direct, wanted more time to file their rejoinders. In the earlier hearing, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had filed its reply in the matter.
Videocon d2h had filed its rejoinder while the DTH Association was expected to file its rejoinder in three weeks.
The DTH Association, Videocon d2h and Sun Direct had appealed TRAI’s tariff order for CPE that capped the installation and activation charges for DTH CPE at Rs 450.
The authority had also directed DTH operators to offer an outright purchase scheme called Standard Scheme for all types of CPE on a standalone basis.
They are also required to provide free maintenance and repairs of CPE for three years after installation/activation.
The DTH operators have contended that TRAI has failed to address relevant issues raised by them while framing the tariff order. They want the tariff order to be set aside.
The tribunal had earlier set aside TRAI’s 27 May 2013 tariff order and had asked it to conduct fresh exercise with inputs provided by the DTH operators and to address their issues
