TDSAT has set aside MIB's order revoking permission granted to VS Broadcasting to uplink and downlink of two Non-News and Current Affairs TV channels in the names of “OK Music” and “Tora TV” with immediate effect.

MIB had cancelled the licence after the petitioner failed to respond to the show cause notice.VS Broadcasting pointed out that in the event of first violation, suspension of the permission and prohibition of broadcast/transmission upto a period of 30 days shall be the prescribed penalty.

VS Broadcasting contended that it has not committed any offence so as to attract penalties. The court was satisfied that the impugned order requires to be set aside and the matter needs to be remitted back to MIB for considering action.

Before parting with the order, TDSAT conveyed to MIB that it should consider petitioner’s application for change of name of the channel “OK Music” to “Youth Plus” expeditiously and preferably within one month in accordance with law.
