German telco Deutsche Telekom will add 15 new HD channels to its IPTV platform Entertain in May 2012, both from public and commercial broadcasters.
From 3 May 2012, Entertain customers can receive the 10 new HD channels provided by public broadcasters ARD and ZDF: WDR, NDR, BR, SWR, ZDFneo, ZDFinfo, ZDFkultur, 3sat, KI.KA and Phoenix.
On the same day, pay-TV channels ProSieben Fun HD, Sat.1 Emotions HD and kabel eins classics HD will launch at Entertain, followed by new women's and lifestyle channel Glitz HD which will go on air in May as well. The four new pay-TV services will form part of subscription package ‘HD’.
The viewers will be able to use all PVR features such as pausing, time-shifted television and content recording on the new additions. Entertain will then offer 45 HD channels in total.
Telekom will also provide the new channels in standard definition.
