Hyderabad : Telugu TV federation is aggressively perusing options to put an end to the dubbing serials aired by Telugu satellite channels as they feel that it is a major threat for the survival and growth of the Television industry.

Few years ago, a section of the TV industry voiced their concern over the loss of employment and revenue for TV professionals, due to dubbed serials; however, the problem wasn't entirely solved back then.

Recently, the members of the TV Federation decided to tackle the issue and on Sunday, they called upon an industry-wide strike to raise their voice once again.

Talking about why they had to take such a drastic step, the newly elected President of the TV Federation, Vijay Yadav said, "Hundreds of people are losing out on job opportunities due to dubbed serials and we request all the TV channels to stop airing such content.

Apart from the TV industry, even the government will lose crores of rupees in revenue if dubbed serials are allowed to be aired on various TV channels."

Obliging to the request of the federation, several directors of TV shows and serials and actors stayed away from shooting on 9th November.

Earlier, During March 2013 Vijay Yadhav and members of the TV federation had sat on an indefinite hunger strike to force the Telugu TV channels to stop airing the dubbed content immediately.

while, the agitation was gaining momentum a section of the people attacked the Maa TV office that resulted in law and order issues and ultimately the momentum got fizzled out.

However, the after math of early 2013 and changing political equations has witnessed formation of labour unions of various crafts that involved in television production and strengthened the organisational structure of Telugu TV Federation, making it a powerful organisation in the present day that gives a hope that the latest initiative might bear a fruitful result if a joint action committee is formed to guide the movement in right direction.

It may be noted that Maa TV which was under fire during the previous agitation is slowly switching towards original Telugu content replacing its dubbed content.

It remains to be seen how the issue will turn in the upcoming days. However tvnews4u.com feels that the situation is ripe for the TV federation to talk to the channels and find a amicable solution that will be acceptable to both the sides for a long term mutual co existence, without hurting the immediate financial interest of the broadcasters in AP market.
