MUMBAI: Ten Sports, Taj Television-owned sports network, has inked a multi-platform rights deal to broadcast the French Football League for three years from 2012-15 for South Asia.
The deal, negotiated with MP & Silva, offers 232 matches showcasing two of French football’s title competitions: Ligue 1 – Top Football Division in France and one of Top 5 Leagues in Europe and Coupe De La Ligue – The French League Cup. On top of live matches from Ligue 1 and Coupe de la Ligue, Ten Sports will also telecast Ligue 1 Weekly Preview Show.
Ten also has the rights for the Uefa Champions League, Europa League: Ten Action and Ten HD air soccer.

Ligue 1 is the primary football compeition in France and has long held a top five position amongst the football leagues of Europe. The league has 20 clubs, including Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) and big-spending Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), whose star-studded line-up features Javier Pastore, Thiago Motta and Jérémy Ménez – on top of new power signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Thiago Silva.
The clubs will play home and away matches over 38 rounds, with the 2012/13 season beginning 10 August.
