MUMBAI: After airing shows like ‘Miami Ink’ and ‘LA Ink’, lifestyle channel TLC is all set to bring tattoo festival TLC Heartwork Tattoo Festival in India.
Hosted in partnership with Indian and international artists, the festival will take place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi from 2 to 4 December.
Taking about the upcoming event, Creative Skin Graphics festival organiser and director Lokesh Verma stated, “Our first introduction to tattoos was watching artists and their work on TLC. The industry has come a long way since then, and tattoos have gained wider acceptance. With the festival we want to promote the culture of tattooing by giving people access to international artists and standards.”
TLC Heartwork Tattoo Festival will play host to renowned artists such as Jay Freestyle (Netherlands), Stepan Negur (Russia), Bez 666 (UK), Fabrice Koch (Germany), in addition to tattoo artists from India. The festival aims to bring together the tattoo industry, artists and equipment suppliers, and to make tattoos accessible and mainstream.
Speaking about the partnership, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific (South Asia), VP, female and family entertainment products, Rajiv Bakshi said, “TLC has always been ahead of the curve in setting trends among the youth. We made tattoos and tattooing popular with our shows, and this festival is a natural progression. We have aided the growth of tattoo culture, and the festival brings the art form to the mainstream and makes it accessible to a large group of people.”
The festival will also host music bands and acts by various other entertainers, including competitions for the best tattoos in various categories.
