MUMBAI: International music and entertainment channel Vh1 is bringing the eighth season of the talent hunt show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ to Indian audiences.

The show will be telecast for the first time on Vh1 in India, which has the exclusive rights to air the show as a part of multi-year deal. ‘Britain’s Got Talent 8′ will premiere on 1 September, airing at 9 pm and bringing to audiences the excitement as Brits gear up to showcase their talent.

Viacom18 English entertainment EVP and head Ferzad Palia said, “’Britain’s Got Talent’ is one of the world’s top unscripted properties. In our quest to bring to India, the world’s best entertainment across genres, we’re delighted to announce the arrival of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ for the first time ever on Indian television. We’re confident that this and other soon-to-be-announced initiatives now firmly propel Vh1 to clear leadership in English entertainment in India.”

Veteran judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams will return to scrutinise the performances with their feedback and discover the best talent in Britain.

Open to acts of all ages, the reality show celebrates the spirit of aspiring performers by showcasing a variety of novelty acts from across several genres. Season 8 will feature an array of aspiring dancers, singers, comedians, magicians and more, vying to win hearts and the coveted prize.

The new season of the show will see an additional, exciting twist with the introduction of ‘The Golden Buzzer’. For the first time ever, each judge will be given one chance to hit the golden buzzer and directly send an act to the semi-finals, overriding the other judges’ decisions.

The India telecast of the show has been scheduled four and a half months after the original airing that commenced on 12 April 2014 on Britain’s ITV Network. The live final took place on 7 June, and was won by boy band Collabro. The final also marked the 100th episode of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
