Star had actually applied for regional sports channels in HD. But the plan was cancelled. Now they are launching HD only for SS1 Tamil.

Asianet Movies HD at last! Finally, a Malayalam HD movie channel! Sun and Zee should get ready to launch more HD movie channels. With Vijay Super HD getting cleared as well, Star should now try for Pravah Picture HD. Also, I am very happy to see Star Kirano SD and HD. It shows that Star will enter the Odia market with a bang! Waiting for Zee Sarthak HD to get a licence.

With this, the status of regional HD movie channels in the big 6 languages is as follows: Green = Already launched, Orange = Testing, trademark and/or licence applied, Red = No plans or licence so far.
