Broadcaster ZEEL and multi system operator (MSO) Fastway Transmission are racing against time to renew the content deal that will expire on 31 March.
Both the parties are in favour of entering into a negotiated fixed fee as has been the case so far. However, MSO Fastway has said that it is also open to a reference interconnect offer (RIO) deal.
“We are negotiating with ZEEL to enter into a fixed fee deal as our existing deal will end on 31 March. However, we will put ZEEL distributed channels on RIO if the deal doesn’t materialise,” Fastway Transmission CEO Peeush Mahajan.
Mahajan said he is hopeful that the deal will get closed in the next few days before the expiry of the agreement. That said, Fastway has already started running scrolls on its channel stating that ZEEL and Zee Media Corporation channels will be available on RIO from 1 April.
ZEEL spokesperson refused to comment on the matter.
Fastway has more or less concluded its content deals with major broadcast networks including Star India, IndiaCast, and Sony Pictures Networks Distribution India. Most of the deals are on a fixed fee basis.
“We will be sorted out on the content side once our deal with ZEEL concludes,” Mahajan asserted. ZEEL, Fastway in hectic parleys to renew content deal
