In addition, transponders leased from foreign satellite operators, on back-to-back basis, are also provisioned to service providers. The services realized in the process address a wide range of social and business needs

The Indian National Satellite (INSAT) system is one of the largest domestic communication satellite systems in the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 1983 with commissioning of INSAT-1B, it initiated a major revolution in India’s communications sector.

Currently, the INSAT/ GSAT fleet comprising of thirteen (13) in-orbit operational satellites viz., INSAT-3A, INSAT-3C, INSAT-4A, INSAT-4B, INSAT-4CR, GSAT-6, GSAT-7, GSAT-8, GSAT-10, GSAT-12, GSAT-14, GSAT-15 and GSAT-16, provides a cumulative capacity of over 250 transponders in C, Ext. C, Ku band, UHF and S Band frequencies. Out of this, a majority of transponders are made available for commercial use for TV, DTH, DSNG, VSAT and telephony services; the remaining transponders are in use for societal and strategic applications.

Direct To Home (DTH)

India is among the most competitive and vast market for DTH operations. Antrix has enabled seven DTH players to service the Indian Market, which currently has over 40 million subscribers.

Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) Services

Antrix enables news channels to provide live coverage from the source and pitch-in the TV sets of nearly 160 million households in the country. The service is operational in C and Ku bands.

VSAT Services

Antrix enables VSAT services by public and private sector for variety of operations including Banking and Financial Services. Antrix is also serving the needs of various users for meeting telephony and backhaul requirements.

Private TV Uplinking / Commercial Teleport Operations

Some of the private TV channels are uplinking on the INSAT/ GSAT fleet using their own teleports and ground stations set-up across the country. Antrix has also enabled commercial teleport operators, who make use of space segment capacity as well as fiber optics technology, thereby providing total solution for channels to 'play-out' the contents from their studios located anywhere in India

Launched on March 05 2016, SES-9 will be positioned at the orbital slot of 108.2° E and provide incremental as well as replacement capacity to the well established slot over Asia, where it will be co-located with the existing satellites. The satellite will expand SES’s capability to provide DTH broadcasting and other communications services in Northeast Asia, South Asia & Indonesia, as well as maritime communications for vessels in the Indian Ocean
