Both r needed. Actually there r limited number of viewers who would watch a HD dubbed hollywood movie channel as these set of viewers usually watch the content on OTT while SD feed of such a channel has large following among the mass audience....similar to what u can say is the case for Dubbed South Indian Movies on Hindi Movie Channels where largely it gets viewership from SD channels. Colors Cineplex HD surely must be getting much better ratings now as it features more bollywood content as compared to its earlier dubbed south indian movies driven strategy, though they still need to improve on the content strategy of this channel and air more variety of bollywood movies to compete with rivals but still it is a good beginning. I had written to viacom18 hindi movie channels cluster head about making Colors Cineplex HD a bollywood content driven channel with valid reasoning why same is needed and will work, thankfully sir absorbed my feedback + evaluated my feedback and soon after implemented the changes
UTV HD tried to experiment but lower ratings lead to its shutdown. When HD channels start getting more penetration among majority of mass audience base then such a channel would definitely work well and for that broadcasters need to lower pricing of such channels / bouquet or launch other initiatives to attract audience
