Zee Classic will telecast seven of the legend Raj Kapoor’s iconic films in a ‘RK Film Festival’ from 27 May to 2 June.
Raising a toast to the showman of Hindi cinema, the channel will pay a tribute to Raj Kapoor with the film fest commemorating his 27th death anniversary. The film festival will showcase the handpicked movies from RK banner at 9 pm every night.
Starting 27 May with the all-time classic ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ directed by the showman himself , the film emphasizes on the social message that beauty is in the eye of the beholder depicted with the love saga of Roopa (Zeenat Aman) and Rajeev (Shashi Kapoor).
Next in the line-up is ‘Prem Granth’ on 28 May that depicts the struggle of a woman named Kajari (Madhuri Dixit) after she is raped and how it affects the relationship with her lover Somen (Rishi Kapoor).
This will be followed by ‘Bobby’ (starring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia) on 29 May, the movie that introduced the genre of teenage romance with a rich-vs-poor clash in the backdrop.
The festival will also air ‘Heena’ (starring Rishi Kapoor and Zeba Bakhtiar), the last film by Raj Kapoor that is set in the peaks of snowy mountains, green fields and a quaint village, a classic love story based on the Indo-Pak relationship. There is also ‘Prem Rog’ and ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’.
The fest will conclude on 2 June, the day that marks the death anniversary of the showman, with ‘Mera Naam Joker’ (starring Rishi Kapoor and Simi Garewal).
The movie is about a clown who must make his audience laugh at the cost of his own sorrows
